Traveling!

Hi, everyone! I have some wonderful news. I’m going to Israel!

Juicy details: Our old pastor, Pastor John, is organizing and leading the trip. (When I say “our old pastor” I don’t mean he's old, I mean he used to be our pastor. He retired last year.) (Maybe that means he’s old after all.) My daddy and I and everyone else who signed up (about 40 people) will be leaving at the end of October and touring all over Israel for 10 days!

Ever since Dad took my brother on a trip to Israel with Pastor John seven years ago, I have wanted to go. I am so excited! I will get to see the places where Jesus lived, walked, and taught. I will experience first-hand the culture and traditions of the Israeli people. The nation of Israel and the Jewish people are very close to my heart, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity of seeing their monuments and observing their way of life. While we will not be able to witness to them on our tour, I can hope that our love and support of their country will be an example of the Christian walk that Jesus the Messiah taught.

Expect to see plenty of pictures on my blog – hopefully I will be able to post them daily while I’m there! Your prayers are appreciated as October draws closer. There are so many things to prepare for, it’s easy to get caught up in worry. Plus, this is my first ever overseas trip! If any seasoned travelers out there have suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them!

I rejoiced with those who said to me,
"Let us go to the house of the Lord."
Our feet are standing
in your gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built like a city
that is closely compacted together.
That is where the tribes go up,
the tribes of the Lord,
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.
There the thrones for judgement stand,
the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
"May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels."
For the sake of my brothers and friends,
I will say "Peace be within you."
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.

-Psalm 122
